Hi I’m Deborah Dicembre, a freelance abstract artist. Welcome to my Studio Gallery.
As an abstract artist and an abstract expressionist , I give shape , colour and form to ethereal or non bodied concepts such as emotions , energy , thoughts and experiences.
Art is very personal .
Each piece is unique and interacts differently with the collector.
It is a great honour, that someone would hang a piece of your art on their wall, because it becomes part of the personality of that room and adds to the language and conversation of that space. Art reminds us of something , a feeling , a time and place, an experience. Sometimes it connects powerfully with who we are at the moment or who we are on the way to becoming and it pulls us forward towards that destiny.
What it’s not, is silent or flaccid.
Art speaks and it speaks powerfully. We have a visceral response to the colours , the energy and the subject matter on the canvas.
I desire in my work to bring beauty and balance.
I desire to bring energy and convey peace, or passion or playfulness.
And for the most part I’d like my art to make me and others happy.
I combine a variety of materials and mediums to bring my work to life. I use acrylic, watercolour, oil and spray paint ; markers, charcoal , pastels and graphite; glosses, glazes, textures and finishes. I work mostly on canvas, raw or gessoed and heavy archival quality papers.
For many years I worked as a jazz musician and a gospel singer, living in NYC, and Sydney. If you’re wondering what I sound like you’ll find me on iTunes.
In fact I have a new jazz EP coming out , early 2023. And I’m really looking forward to that !
Now I live with my family on the beautiful sth east coast of Australia where the rolling green hills meet the deep blue sea.
My first solo show, Messiah , debuted at Fern Street Gallery in Gerringong NSW. The show ran from July 25 – Aug 7, 2022. It was a ‘pinch me’ experience. The Seven paintings all hanging together in this beautiful space was a sight to behold and I couldn’t have been happier with the response . Collectors snapped up the original art and visitors who not only enjoyed the exhibit and gave me such great feedback, took a little piece of ‘Messiah ‘ away with them in the form of a limited edition print, a collectors series journal or a 100% silk limited edition scarf.
